St. Louis (December 4, 2006) - Dollar-Help, Inc. has announced that Adam Timmerman, Rams offensive lineman, and Will Witherspoon, Rams linebacker, will serve as celebrity ambassadors for the organization, which helps pay heating bills for low income families in our area.
"We will be celebrating 25 years of service in 2007, and our goal this year is to raise $1.2 million. We are very happy to have Adam Timmerman and Will Witherspoon supporting us. This will jump-start the winter season and drive awareness of Dollar-Help's "Warmthgiving Weekend" campaign coming in next weekend," Dennis Kelly, President of Dollar-Help, said.
Timmerman has recorded public service announcements with his wife, Jana, and will donate autographed Rams' items to help raise funds. Witherspoon will make a public appearance in advance of Dollar-Help's upcoming Warmthgiving Weekend by hosting a hot chocolate stand at Tillman Elementary (230 Quan Ave, Kirkwood, MO 63122) on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 8 a.m.
Young people throughout the region are encouraged to set up their own hot chocolate stands to raise money and awareness for Dollar-Help on Warmthgiving Weekend December 8-10, 2006. Information, advice and materials for running a stand are available at www.dollarhelp.org.
"I can't imagine my own family having to suffer in a home without heat this winter," Timmerman said. "Dollar-Help makes it easy for all of us to help those in need. Im excited to be part of a campaign to share the message that together, we can help warm the homes of our neighbors this winter," he added.
Witherspoon feels that there is no better time to support Dollar-Help than now: "The weather St Louis is currently experiencing is a reminder of how harsh our winters can be. But Dollar-Help is helping to make sure that fewer people shiver in their homes at this time. Warmthgiving Weekend is a wonderful way for young people in our community to help share the warmth this winter; I'm looking forward to getting the message out to kids to run hot chocolate stands for Dollar-Help from December 8 through 10," the linebacker said.
Dennis Kelly added, "Every year we see an increasing number of families that rely on our assistance to pay their heating bills. With the help of the St. Louis Rams and Adam Timmerman, I hope that we will not have to turn away any residents or area families in need."
